VVP Support

Getting started

VVP is designed for portrait or vertical video on a landscape Windows display. It shows the original video beside a larger view of the area inside the red viewing box.

1. Open VVP and choose File > Open....
2. Select a supported portrait video.
3. Use the playback controls, then move the red viewing box to choose what appears in the larger view.

Opening and playing a video

VVP accepts 3GP, AVI, MKV, MOV, MP4 and WMV files. Playback also depends on the video and audio codecs available in Windows.

Use the on-screen controls to play or pause, drag the timeline to seek, or jump backwards and forwards. You can also press Space to play or pause. Videos return to the beginning and continue playing when they reach the end.

For a landscape or square video, choose whether to play it in VVP's full video area or open it in another installed player. You can remember your choice, then clear it later with File > Reset non-portrait video choice.

Using the vertical viewing area

The original video appears on the left with a red viewing box. The larger canvas shows only the area inside that box. Move or resize the selected area with the available pan and zoom controls to focus on the part of the portrait frame you want to watch.

Panning

Panning is available in both Basic and Pro. Drag on the original video to reposition the red viewing box, drag the larger canvas, or use the arrow keys for small adjustments. The larger view updates as the selected area moves.

Zooming

Zooming is a Pro feature with levels up to 3×. Use the zoom buttons, the mouse wheel over the original video or larger canvas, or the numeric keypad plus and minus keys. Zooming changes the size of the red viewing box and the area shown on the larger canvas.

Playback speed

Pro can play video at normal, half or quarter speed. Select 1x, 0.5x or 0.25x beside the maximise button. Changing speed does not modify the source file.

Looping a clip range

Clip-range looping is a Pro feature. Drag the orange start and end markers on the timeline, or use the bracket controls to set either boundary at the current position. Playback repeats between the two markers.

Use the crossed bracket controls to clear a boundary. Seeking outside the range is allowed; press play to return to the selected clip.

Maximising the window

Select the maximise button above the speed controls to fill the desktop, then select it again to restore the window. To start this way each time, enable File > Open maximised.

Getting the Pro Program

To upgrade, install VVP Basic from Microsoft Store and choose Upgrade inside the application. Microsoft Store handles the purchase and licence.

If you previously purchased Pro from the VVP website, use Basic > Restore website purchase... in an unpackaged website-installed version and enter the account details used for that purchase.

Opens the official VVP listing in Microsoft Store.

Common problems

The video does not open or play

Check that the file uses one of the supported formats listed above. A supported file extension does not guarantee that its internal video or audio codec is available on the PC.

The larger view shows the wrong area

Drag the red viewing box on the original video, drag the larger canvas, or use the arrow keys to reposition it.

Pro controls are unavailable

Zoom, playback speed, clip ranges, one-second jumps and frame stepping require Pro access. If they remain unavailable after purchase, restart VVP and make sure the Microsoft Store is signed in with the account that owns the add-on.

Frame stepping is unavailable for one file

Frame stepping requires usable frame-rate information. Some files or codecs do not expose that information to Windows.

A website purchase is not restored

Confirm that you are using the unpackaged website-installed edition and the account details created for the original website purchase. Store-installed versions use Microsoft Store licensing instead.

Feedback and support contact

In VVP, choose File > Feedback to report a problem, suggest an improvement or send general feedback. For a useful problem report, include what you were doing, what you expected and what happened.

Privacy note: feedback sends the category and message you enter, together with the installed VVP version and current Basic/Pro edition. It does not attach your video, a screenshot, its filename or its file path.

The project does not currently publish a support email address or public web feedback form. The in-app Feedback feature is the current support contact method.
